ABOUT OPICO

The company was established in Essex in 1966 as the daughter company of the “OPpenheimer Intercontinental COrporation”, an American agricultural machinery export business. The shortened OPICO name was used from the start for obvious reasons and has become synonymous with innovative concepts within the industry.

OPICO introduced machinery lines such as Hesston to the UK as well as importing some of the first Round Balers, Retrofit Turbo Chargers and large Disc Harrows. However, the success of the company and the product that farmers knew OPICO for until recent years was based around the recirculating batch Grain Dryer.

The company was established and built up by Jeremy Coleclough who moved it first to Spalding and then to Bourne in Lincolnshire, to a purpose built 45,000sq/ft Grain Dryer assembly factory in 1984.

In 1989 Jeremy became sole owner and ran the company until 2007 when he decided to retire after holding the reins for over four decades.

In 2007 James Woolway, the Sales Director at that time, bought out the OPICO trading company and became the new owner and in 2008 moved to a new 50,000sq/ft factory in Bourne where the company still resides today.

Over the years OPICO has become known as a company for innovation and this is very evident in the range today with many of the products being the first of their type in the UK. The company philosophy has always been to find something clever, different and beneficial to the farmer in the products that they sell.

At OPICO, we also work with our suppliers to develop machines for UK conditions and with a dedicated after-sales department, we are committed to supporting all machines throughout their working life. At OPICO, we stock a full range of genuine parts for the machines that we distribute, which are available from our network of dealers.

OPICO has a team of service engineers who cover the country, supporting our dealer service teams with the setting up of new machinery, undertaking PDI's and working to resolve any breakdowns. OPICO also have a team of Territory Managers and Product Specialists who work with our dealer sales teams as machinery consultants.

OPICO - Under the OPICO own brand name, OPICO distributes gas and diesel recirculating batch grain dryers, a large grassland range of machines, mechanical weeding comb harrows and interrow cultivators, post hole diggers, seeders and micro-granule (Avadex) applicators.

HE-VA - Best known for producing high-quality sets of rolls, this Danish family-owned company develops innovative and robust cultivation and grassland machinery tailored to the UK market.

Strautmann - For over 80 years, this family-owned German engineering company has developed market leading expertise in livestock feeding and forage harvesting machinery and manufactures a wide range of forage wagons and diet feeder wagons.

Alpego - Known for an innovative approach to design, Alpego have been specialising in one-pass crop establishment systems for over 30 years, with a comprehensive line-up of cultivation and green maintenance equipment extending to power harrows, rotary cultivators, combination drills and flail mowers.

Ovlac - Today, Ovlac is Spain's largest manufacturer of soil-engaging equipment and has been building ploughs for over 75 years. Mouldboard ploughs remain the firm’s flagship product and Ovlac is regarded as something of a specialist in shallow inversion tillage with a range of ploughs built specifically for that growing market. OPICO began distributing Ovlac in 2024.

FarmDroid - Founded by Danish brothers Jens and Kristian Warming in 2012, FarmDroid is the world’s first fully automatic robot that both seeds and mechanically weeds. OPICO began distributing the FarmDroid FD20 throughout the UK in 2022.
